Shoshone Falls

  • Shoshone Falls, known as the "Niagara of the West", tumbles 212 feet to the canyon floor, 50 feet higher than Niagara Falls.
  • Evil Knievel tried to jump the Snake River Canyon in 1974 with his Sky-Cycle. The new 1.4 mile Centennial Trail will take you up out of the canyon and within 100 yards of the jump site.
  • Bridal Veil Falls is also located in Shoshone Falls Park. The small cascade is formed from a small stream that empties from Dierkes Lake along the side of the road (on the way to Shoshone Falls).
  • Shoshone Falls are most spectacular during the spring and early summer, when water flows are high - depending on winter snow melt.
