January Adventure

Ski and Snowboard Rentals are available at every ski resort and snow shoes are available at numerous locations.

Pomerelle Mountain

The perfect way to ring in the new year is by trying something new! Head up to Pomerelle Ski Resort to try skiing or snowboarding. The mountain is perfect for all levels of riders and is well known for their ski school. It’s a perfect place to learn the ropes, get outside in the fresh winter air and enjoy time in the mountain. For those who prefer to watch, hang out in the lodge and have a drink and snack! There are two lifts and a bunny hill at Pomerelle. The top lift provides a gorgeous view of the mountain tops all around! January is one of their peak months to have an awesome powder day. Remember to bring your mask to enter the lodge safely!

Magic Mountain

Downhill ski, snowboard, x-country ski, snowmobile or tube at Magic Mountain! Stop in at the lodge to get lift tickets and/or rentals. There is one lift at Magic as well as a bunny hill. Be sure to check out their rope towed tubing hill. Get all the downhill thrills without any of the work! The lodge also carries x-country skis and snowshoes for rent. There are trails (groomed and ungroomed) all around Magic Mountain, spanning for miles! Near Magic Mountain is Diamond Field Jacks where you can snowmobile for hours and explore the glorious South Hills. On your way home, be sure to stop at Ross Falls; a 1 mile round trip hike to a frozen waterfall!

Soldier Mountain

Soldier Mountain Ski Area, Fairfield, Idaho, Winter, snow

Another amazing ski resort to visit is Soldier Mountain. Enjoy almost no crowds and incredible terrain here! There are two lifts and a bunny hill. The runs are long and for advanced riders. If you’re a very advanced rider take an expertly tailored cat ski trip with Soldier Mountain! They will take you to the top of the mountain where you will ski un-touched backcountry snow and experience something only few do. Cat skiers can also opt to overnight in their backcountry yurt, for a truly awesome adventure. Warm up in the gorgeous lodge at Soldier Mountain while enjoying craft beer, fun drinks, and delicious choices for food!

Miracle & Banbury Hot Springs

Miracle Hot Springs

Need a break from the winter weather? Head to Miracle and Banbury hot springs and soak in a geothermal pool! Rent VIP for a luxurious experience while relaxing the mind and body. 1000 Springs Resort is another great option and perfect for families with active kids. Enjoy their rolling log, slide and two diving boards. There are plenty of health benefits to soaking in these springs, and we know it will wipe away all the stress from the holidays.

City of Rocks National Reserve

Snowshoeing at City of Rocks

See the prettiest winter views by visiting the City of Rocks National Reserve in January! Most roads leading through the City are closed in the winter, but there is another way to explore the park. Rent snowshoes at the Visitors Center! Explore the nooks of the City with snowshoes and see incredible views. Right outside of the City of Rocks is another hot spring for you to warm up in; Durfee Hot Springs. There are three pools to choose from and enjoy the views of the mountains all around.

Stay in Twin Falls or Burley for central access to many of these adventures. There are lots of shopping and dining options. We recommend the Best Western Plus Twin Falls or the Hampton Inn in Burley. They are equipped with a pool, hot tub and great amenities. They are extremely clean and have spacious rooms. Enjoy a great breakfast at the hotel, or head out for crepes at Twin Beans Coffee Co or Lulu’s. Adventures require good rest and good food; you’re guaranteed that in Southern Idaho.
