Access to Gemstone is obtained by signing up for the monthly membership, or paying the daily admittance pass. The gym is an awesome sight! Bright walls and crazy tall spaces makes your jaw drop as you look all the way up to the ceiling. It’s even better from the top.

What to Expect?

Gemstone offers many levels for all rock climbers. There are climbing instructors available to teach the basics, or train into a better climber. Classes start with the entry level program to cover basic skills needed to climb. Tips for ropes, knot tying, belaying, and falling are provided. Because it is instructed by experienced climbers – it is an excellent way to get started! According to Gemstone’s website,

“This introductory lesson is offered free to all patrons of Gemstone Climbing Center.  Bouldering is a fun way to improve one’s skills, strength, and knowledge of climbing.  Practicing on your own, or working with friends to complete problems. Bouldering is an outstanding workout and goal in and of itself as it is something that can be a session at the gym when you’re by yourself or want to get a group together to cheer each other on.”

Then What?

Getting tired? After climbing, when your appetite is rising, head to Anchor Bistro, Scooter’s, or Elevation 486! What better way to refuel than the best food around? Staying over night to explore more of Southern Idaho is recommended. A favorite hotel by many is the Blue Lakes Inn. The quaint lodging facility has great customer service, and great style!
