Sometimes the best pictures are taken from a few (hundred) feet in the air! If you’re a drone fanatic, here are a list of places in Southern Idaho that you’ll need to visit to capture the best drone shots in Southern Idaho.
Shoshone Falls
Shoshone Falls in the city of Twin Falls is the place to start! These 212 foot tall, 900 foot wide waterfalls provide picturesque views from every angle. Be sure to do a bit of research at this link to visit during peak water flow, and be prepared to catch some amazing shots. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can kayak up the Snake River and fly your drone from the base of the falls.
Little City of Rocks
Gooding’s Little City of Rocks hosts a variety of rock formations including towers, hoodoos, mushroom caps, spires and natural arches. It provides a unique landscape from the state’s usual desert and sagebrush, due to being created by ancient volcano ash-fall. Visiting Little City of Rocks and hiking its winding trails results in amazing drone footage!
Lake Cleveland/Mt. Harrison
More stunning scenery is found at Lake Cleveland, located South of Burley in the Sawtooth National Forest. The breathtaking lake sits right beneath Mt. Harrison and is home to a variety of wildflowers and wildlife. Additionally, Lake Cleveland campgrounds open on July 1st, with hiking, fishing, camping, and non-motorized boating available. It’s difficult to get a bad shot from a drone in such a beautiful place.
While there is beauty to be found all over the state of Idaho, Shoshone Falls, Little City of Rocks and Lake Cleveland make for some of the best drone shots in Southern Idaho.
