Here at Southern Idaho Tourism we know that this area offers a diverse range of recreational activities and stunning natural features. But what many don’t realize is that the Southern Idaho area provides an even more diverse array of food products and lends to its reputation as the food bowl of Idaho.

Many large companies such as Chobani, Independent Meat, Clear Springs Foods and more have located their headquarters here due to the propensity of food related resources in the area. Savor Southern Idaho is a celebration of the steadfast agricultural excellence our area brings to the table and the unique flavors our local chef’s create with those ingredients. We pare this with the finest Idaho wines and brews for a savory event that will please even the finest of palettes.

As an annual event, patrons look forward to Savor Southern Idaho as summer draws to an end and the harvest season really starts to kick off. Menu creations come from a variety of chefs and guests look forward to hearing the innovations from some of our more seasoned chefs as well as getting to try dishes from new chefs. John Chappell, a veteran Savor Chef from Jaker’s Bar & Grill, says it’s one of his favorite projects for the year. “The event gives me the chance to be extra creative with Idaho products and interact directly with guests. It’s also great seeing what other chefs come up with and people’s reactions to the flavor combinations.” This year Savor Southern Idaho features 9 dishes and chef’s from Jaker’s, CSI Culinary Program, Elevation, Cactus Pete’s Resort & Casino, Blu, Twin Falls Brickhouse, Falls Brand, Le Bridge Catering, Daisy’s and cheese from Glanbia.

Danny Auth from Blu is putting together a Tilapia Fish Taco from Idaho Fish Breeders in Hagerman with a Fresh Peach Salsa from Kelly’s Canyon Orchard and an Avocado Verde with Chobani Greek Yogurt. If that doesn’t delight your taste buds, Falls Brand will be sampling Jalapeno Cheese Smoked Sausage, Basque Chorizo and Papa Roy’s baby back ribs. The Twin Falls Brickhouse will be placing their new chef’s talents into the ring and whipping up a Wasabi Beef Teriyaki dish. Crossings Winery recommends a dry red – the Cabernet Franc to be exact – to balance out the wasabi kick or any spice.

Crossings will be sampling their 2014 Cabernet Franc among 3 other wines. This will include their very popular Passion Peach Sangria, 2014 Semillon – Wood River Vineyard and 2015 Bleu Noir. Holesinskys and Magic Valley Brewing will also be on site sampling their valley grown and produced drinks. Other Idaho wines will also be available for samples along with a Lavender Lemonade made especially by the Jerome Farmers Market.

Last, but definitely not least, Savor has sweet treats! Chobani will be debuting their Chobani Cup Truck. This 20 foot deluxe yogurt truck will provide fresh, tasty Greek Yogurt and has a cool background for group photos or selfies. Daisy’s Old Time Confections will be sampling Homemade Salted Caramels using the finest Amalgamated Sugar and Le Bridge Catering is serving up an Idaho Huckleberry desert fit for a queen.

Great food, great drinks and a great atmosphere to boot! Savor Southern Idaho will take place in the historic downtown on the grassy area between the Twin Falls Brickhouse and the old grain silos. There will be live music by the Barking Owls, fun auction items from regional recreational activities (don’t miss the overnight cat skiing trip at Soldier or private site seeing flight) and great comradery. The event will take place August 18 at 6pm. So come on down, hang out for a while and enjoy the things that make Idaho the best place on earth to play, live, eat and drink.
