The Snake River Canyon is one of the most amazing areas in the Magic Valley and waterfalls are part of the canyon’s magic. There are thousands of waterfalls that stretch from Cauldron Linn to Bliss. We know the famous ones – Shoshone Falls, Twin Falls, Pillar Falls, Perrine Coulee Falls and so on.
But what about the waterfalls near Auger Falls Park, or the two visible from the Perrine Bridge? What are their names?
These thundering falls and cascading trickles deserve a name. For the next couple of months waterfalls near Twin Falls will undergo a naming process.
A committee formed by Twin Falls County, City of Twin Falls, Twin Falls Canal Company, and Southern Idaho Tourism will be taking nominations for unnamed waterfalls. And, we want to hear from you! Do you know a piece of history behind the waterfall, a beautiful name that describes its features or a culturally significant name that fits perfectly? Send us your suggestions!
The committee will receive nominations from the public between October 15 and November 15, 2019. Each waterfall is marked on the map with a photo – locations are approximate. Use the submission form to nominate your pick and any reasoning you have behind the name.
Submissions with historical references will be given preference. All offensive or crude nominations and any containing profanity or inappropriate references will be removed from the contenders. Names must align with the USGS Commemorative Names Policy. For questions please email [email protected]
