On this the 40^th anniversary of the first man on the moon…we invite you to visit the moon….Craters of the Moon that is.  This is a National Park property, jointly managed by the Bureau of Land Management and the National Park Service.  You can drive or walk. We recommend walking; marvel at the forces that created this amazing and weird landscape some 2000 years ago.  The lava flows, softened this time of year by Syringa flowers is an unforgettable site.  Craters of the Moon is part of of the legacy of space exploration  In 1969, NASA astronauts Alan Shepherd, Edgar Mitchell, Eugene Cernan, and Joe Engle explored Craters of the Moon while training to visit the moon.  Their first steps before landing on the moon were on the moon-like landscape of Craters of the Moon.
